When the American Howard Head got on skis for the first time in 1947, he was disappointed with the heavy, less flexible boards, which were made entirely of wood. As a result, he developed his own ideas and construction methods and is considered the inventor of today's sandwich construction. In 1950 he founded the company Head, which over the years had also made a name for itself internationally as a manufacturer of high-quality tennis, squash and badminton equipment.
