The story of Johnnie Walker naturally begins with the man who gave the whiskey its name. It was 1819 and John Walker's father had just died. A difficult start for a humble peasant boy, you might think, but John always had something special. After the death of his father, he opened a small general store in Kilmarnock and began to experiment with blending processes. He wanted to create a whiskey, each bottle of which should be of the same, unique quality. He laid the foundation stone for the family business Johnnie Walker, which, as the largest whiskey company in the world, now carries incomparable Highland whiskeys all over the world.
