The two Spanish settlers, Benjamin and Edouardo Camp sailed from Spain to Cuba with the intention of starting a rum business. In 1872, the brothers, along with their partner Evaristo Álvarez, developed the Matusalem brand in Santiago de Cuba from a closely guarded, secret formula. They combined their skills and knowledge of distillation with the principles of the Solera system, which was originally created to produce the famous Spanish wine, sherries, brandy and cognac.
The Matusalem Rum has a sweet scent with vanilla, a touch of molasses and plum and caramel. Creamy and fruity on the palate. Long, dry finish.
