The Old Pulteney distillery was founded in 1826 and is located in the small town of Wick on the north-east coast of Scotland and boasts that it is the northernmost distillery on mainland Scotland. The influence of the cool, rough and windy weather, which regularly turns the sea up and turns gray, can be felt in every single malt. Strictly speaking, it is the salty sea air that can be tasted alongside the wooden barrel aromas in the whiskeys. The barley malt for the Old Pulteney whiskeys is shipped by ship from other parts of Great Britain, before being ground, mashed, fermented, distilled and stored as a prototype of whiskey. In order to fully meet the designation as "Maritime Malt", there is a fishing trawler with a seagull on every bottle and packaging box. The range includes bottlings from 12 to 35 years old, even older vintage and some whiskeys without age.
