Pall Mall is the brand name of a cigarette variety of the British American Tobacco Group (BAT), the world's largest tobacco company. The Pall Mall product range not only includes cigarettes but also filter cigarillos, fine cuts and filter sleeves. Eponym in 1899 was the Londoner Pall Mall, which in turn is named after the ball game of the same name. Due to the Second World War, the brand first brought American soldiers to Europe in 1942. The actual market launch in Germany took place in the east in 1989 and in the west in 2004. In only two decades, it became the leading brand of British American Tobacco. In the value-for-money segment, Pall Mall became the second-best-selling cigarette brand in Germany.
