A little further away from the manageable village of Aberfeldy, on the edge of the Scottish Highlands and on the banks of the River Tay, lies the listed building of the Aberfeldy whiskey distillery, which was founded in 1896 by the Dewar family. The distillery's two standard bottlings are the Aberfeldy 12 years and the Aberfeldy 21 years. The distillation takes place in four steam-heated stills. There are also many independent bottlings from Aberfeldy. The distillery character of Aberfeldy is round and soft with a mild sweetness. You can also find some spice notes and oak in the whiskeys, but overall Aberfeldy is a fairly mild Highland whiskey.
