In the heart of the Speyside near the small town of Craigellachie / Banffshire is the distillery that was founded in 1891 at the height of the whiskey boom.
Craigellachie has always been a guarantee of the high quality of Dewar's blends. There are currently a 13 year old, a 17 year old and a 23 year old Craigellachie to buy. Craigellachie has a pleasant sweetness, beautiful complexity, slight oiliness and a hint of burnt matches. The 13-year-old Craigellachie is infused with beautiful citrus flavors, mandarins and oranges. A slightly dry taste produces figs and a hint of cinnamon. The finish is pleasantly long and is accompanied by the still present citrus notes. The 17-year-old Craigellachie is far more complex than the 13-year-old and also contains caramel and fruit notes. If you like strong fig, pear and bergamot notes, you should try the 23-year-old Craigellachie. The soft, floral notes develop into a complex and oily aroma that ends in a long-lasting, liqueur-like finish.
