EVOC's company history is closely linked to the personal experiences of company founders Holger Feist and Bernd Stucke. During a video shoot in 1999, snowboard professional Holger Feist sustained a back injury from the avalanche shovel in his backpack in an avalanche accident. He then developed the first backpack with an integrated back protector. The principle was later applied to equipment for mountain biking.
